Review highlights
Based on 3,484 reviewsFlipper’s in Taipei’s Zhongshan District is widely praised for its light, fluffy pancakes and thoughtfully crafted brunch plates, appealing strongly to dessert and pancake enthusiasts. The menu, though limited in variety, emphasizes quality and presentation, with popular items including fruity toppings and rich whipped cream. Customers consistently highlight the sweet flavor profile of the pancakes, often noting they require little to no additional syrup. The restaurant’s cozy, trendy ambiance, complemented by charming decor and pleasant window views, attracts a young, middle-class crowd. Service is generally attentive and accommodating, with staff ensuring guests feel comfortable and well-cared for despite the frequent busyness and wait times, which stem from the made-to-order preparation style. While some dishes receive mixed feedback, the overall experience is regarded as warmly inviting and satisfying, making Flipper’s a favored destination for casual brunch outings in Taipei.
The pancakes here were so amazing! They are pretty sweet, so there is no need for syrup. My friend and I enjoyed our time here. It can get very busy, so I suggest arriving right when they open. We were not rushed at all and the service was very good. I noticed that we never had an empty glass of water, the waiter was very attentive and always refilled our waters. This is a small thing that I found very nice at this restaurant. If you have a sweet touch I suggest the fruit pancakes, my friend and I both loved it!
The lightest, fluffiest pancakes I have ever had. Try the ones with berries, bananas, and whipped cream. Three pancakes on a plate might look like a lot, but you will not want to share them. Be aware of the long wait to get a table and also to get your pancakes once you order. It seems that the pancakes are made individually order by order, so even though the restaurant might only be half full, you could wait 30 minute upon ordering. The wait is definitely worth it.
Flipper’s Brunch Plate ($420): It was such a hearty plate that included a sunny side egg, a currywurst, bacon and 2 pancakes with butter and maple syrup. Most of the bacon I had wasn’t very delicious, but this one tasted perfect. The currywurst was large and succulent. Furthermore, you could also make your sunny side egg over hard. After pouring some syrup and placing the sweet butter in the middle of 2 pancakes, it was literally the true definition of pancake. The pancakes had the superior taste and texture, and most importantly, the maple syrup was the best and most authentic part. Ice Honey Lemonade ($150): The honey is originally at the bottom, so I suggest you stir before drinking. It tastes fizzy, tangy and quite sour but less sweet than expected. In conclusion, it is a renowned pancake chain originally established in Japan. It was considerate of the staff that I was told to wait for the brunch plate for half an hour in advance because it was freshly cooked. To my great satisfaction, it was delivered under 20 minutes. However, the only shortcoming was that the prices were high even though there was a $30 discount at last. Overall, it’s a 10 out of 10! FYI, you scan the QR code to place an order. Besides, the maximum time of dining is 90 minutes and the 10% service charge is included in your bill.
Really fantastic dessert for pancake and cream lovers. Nice place, warm decoration, young trendy middle class market. Perfect location for all in taipei. Not too many food choices but a nice place to be.
The soufflé here was amazing! I've had the pleasure of trying soufflés in different countries, but this one takes the cake as one of the best. The fruit toppings were the perfect addition, making each bite a delightful mix of sweet and fluffy. We also tried the bubbly lemon mint, which was incredibly refreshing. The restaurant itself is so cute, with window seats that offer a great view of Zhongshan Station. I highly recommend checking this place out for a delightful dining experience, filled with tasty treats and a cozy atmosphere.
